    • Possibility to participate at a preferential rate in the biennial conferences of the ADI/ILA;
    • Possibility to participate in the international committees and working groups of the ADI/ILA;
    • Reserved access to the work of the ADI/ILA via the association’s website;

    • Participation and voting rights at the assemblies of the French Branch;
    • Subscription to the electronic mailing list of the French Branch, allowing to receive information relating to the association, including a biannual newsletter.

Doctoral members:

    • Benefit from the above benefits. They cannot be appointed to participate in
      international committees or working groups, but they may be invited to assist
      full members who participate in them;
    • Appoint a representative to sit on the Board of Directors;
    • Are intended to become ordinary members after obtaining their doctorate.

Application requirements

    • The association may be joined by people holding a doctorate in law (having defended a thesis relating to international law), or people with proven practice in international law (public or private).
    • Doctoral members: this concerns people registered for a doctorate at a university or similar establishment, who are preparing a thesis relating to international law.

Application procedure

The candidate sends a curriculum vitae to the Deputy Secretary General (address below). All applications must be sponsored by two active members of the association (the Deputy Secretary General can help identify people who can sponsor them). A brief email from the sponsor to the Deputy Secretary General is sufficient. Doctoral candidates must provide proof of their registration for a thesis upon request.

After review by the Board of Directors, the application is submitted to the General Assembly for a vote.

Subscriptions

The annual membership fee is 70 euros for ordinary members and 20 euros for doctoral members. For each member, the French Branch is annually liable to the ADI/ILA for a lump sum. The effective collection of membership fees is therefore an imperative for the French Branch. Membership carries with it the obligation to pay the annual membership fee.
